Dear Mr. Wuerch,

We at Alaska Pacific University are pleased to announce that we have received permission from the Peratovich family and the Tlingit and Haida Central Council of Tribes to write and produce a play based on the accomplishment of Elizabeth Wannamaker Peratovich. Mrs. Peratovich successfully advocated for and is given credit for the passage of the equal rights provisions of the Alaska Territorial Constitution. Two years ago the governor and legislature declared February 16th Elizabeth Peratovich Day in recognition of her work.

Mrs. Peratovich's accomplishments are an important element in Alaska history. The role of Alaska Natives in the history and development of Alaska has not been told. Legislation has been introduced in the last two legislative terms to require the Department of Education to incorporate Alaska Native cultures and accomplishments into educational curriculum. Very little has been done to date. This play will establish the Foundation for other projects depicting leadership roles of Alaska Natives in Alaska's history.

This letter is written to ask you to become a partner in this important project. The project cost is $21,000. We would like you to become a partner by donating 1/4 to 1/2 of the costs. For your donation you will be recognized formally as a contributor to this project and will be so stated in all media releases or announcements. Please find enclosed the proposal with projected budget. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Eric Morrison
Director
