[[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] cellar as soon as the lumber could be removed but pending the removal your petitioner received positive order from J R Swayze the agent of the Freedmans Bureau in this city, not to remove the lumber, as he claims the building in behalf of the United States, as abandoned property. Whereupon your petitioner obeyed the said order & is now willing that Miss Stodders the real owner, or the Government of the United States may take possession of the lot and lumber, but notwithstanding the conflicting orders of the mayor & court of the city of Griffin, & the agent of the Freedmans Bureau, the former has levied a fine of ten dollars on your petitioner for failing to obey their orders in reference to the abatement of the nuisance & by the latter one hundred dollars for removing the nuisance, so that your petitioner has been placed between two fines. If he abates the nuisance he must pay the fine to the Government & if he fails to do so, must pay the fine to the mayor & counsel. And in addition to this, Miss Stodders to whom the property has reverted since the cessation of hostilities, no doubt will claim the right to have damages for interfering with his property. Your petitioner being [[?]] on the night & left, & exposed to a fine in the [[?]], has concluded to appeal to you, as the agent here therein your petitioners liable to pay
