The undersigned, Trustees for the colored Baptist Church in the city of Americus, in response to the orders of [[strikethrough]] Ma [[/strikethrough]] Brevet Major Genl Tilson in regard to the colored Baptist church building, beg leave respectfully to submit the following statement of facts, with these protest:

The members of colored Baptist church in this city, being desirous of having a house of their own, for public worship, made application to Col Ayer of Albany, for the two buildings near the South Western rail road Depot. He, generously, granted our request & issued an order turning over said buildings "for [[strikethrough]] set [[/strikethrough]] church & school purposes"
