- ARM music was prevalent in our home but as a whole we grew up listening to a variety of music

Discussion of younger (Armenians) singing in Armenian - how was this received by peers?
-"System of a Down" group took Armenian riffs/rhythms and sped them up (Rick Rubin produced them), after that they went that direction too. 
-Non-academics just want to play music but still take it and make it accessible to ppl[people] who grew up listening to the same music we did. This makes us both the worst and best representatives to do this! 
-Cathy arranges music, Begoña researches archived Basque songs that they later adapt/perform. Many songs dark, looking on developing more upbeat repetoire[repertoire] 
-Arm. has such a large repetoire [repertoire] that not all songs lend themselves to western ting group adaptability. They don't write own music or haven't yet, but arrange music. 
-Unrequited love common themes in Arm. & Basque music 
- 10 songs, 5 are original on current Noka CD. Worked w/ Mikel from beginning.
-Not a big difference in Basque Spanish/French lineage/musical tradition
-Chiberro (sp?) Province = most heartbreaking songs, unreq. love, people dying, missing Basque land/family
