Taiko means drum in Japanese; Origincates q/obon ceremony in US
In 1973 when group founded, Taiko they were only 3rd group in US outside Japan; now 400 groups in the US
Taiko traditionally for daily life, to scare away enemies, bringing people together across villages, NOT as art form
Both of their grandparents came from Japan; Taiko is a way to hold on to cultural tradition.
