They are required to go in person to the Cashier of the nearest Freedmens Savings Bank. The payment of pensions will be adjusted at the office of the Commissioner of Pensions after the requisite investigation |

| Decr 28th #10 * | Interior Dept H Van Aernam Commr. of Pensions Jany 4th 1870 Referred to the Commission for Investigation of complaints against Agents in connection with previous papers File | Pension Office Decr. 27, 1869 In reply to letter of the 22nd inst States that upon a recent investigation made by two members of a special commission from this office, of the operations of James M Cloon otherwise James M M Cloon as a claim agent at Pulaski Tenn and Huntsville Ala the conclusion is unhesitatingly reached that he is a person wholly destitute of truth and of all principals of common honesty, and that if any reliance can be placed in human testimony corroborated by strong circumstantial evidence he has not hesitated to resort to forgery & perjury to carry out his fraudulent practices on the Government & pensioners |
