Your com of the 29th inst making inquiries for the freedpeople whether a teacher would be sent to Crawfordville to open a free school provided a suitable school house and twenty five scholars was guaranteed is rec'd. In the absence of the Asst Com'r I have the honor to say in reply that Mr Eberhart, the State Supt. of Freedmen Schools is now absent at the north immediately on his return your letter will be referred to him with instructions to send a teacher to Crawfordville as soon as the Fall term of the schools in the rest of the state are opened, the first of October I think
