Dear Truman:--

Permit me to enclose herewith for your consideration a note written by Tom Jerome to my bookkeeper, Aikman, in which he calls attention to the fact that, by oversight, I paid you from Jerome's funds dues in the Yondotega Club as follows:-

On October 23rd, 1900.  Dues from July, 1900, to January 1st, 1901,  $25.00

On January 8, 1901.  Dues from January 1, 1901 to July 1, 1901,  $25.00

in all  $50.00

You will notice in Jerome's letter, he states, "This makes $50.00 that Mr. Newberry's clerk ought to refund.  The bills were, undoubtedly, sent me by mistake from the clerk not having been told to cease charging up dues on my account."
