John Lane, Esq.,
#67 Fifth Avenue
New York City.

Dear Sir:--

Yours dated July 10th, addressed to Mr. C.L. Freer, asking him to permit the International Studio to publish reproductions of his pictures: "The Head" by Abbott Thayer, and "Early Spring-New England", by T.W. Eryon, in connection with a notice to be used at the Pan-American Exposition, was opened by me in Mr. Freer's absence. I do not feel authorized to grant you the permission asked for. Mr. Freer expects to return to Detroit about August 10th, when you letter will be handed to him.

Yours very truly,
Frank J Herkey
