entirely avoided had the package been put off steamer at Naples,
as it should have been. I also enclose a letter from Messrs.
E. G. Vickers & Company, dated July 2nd, in which they refer to
another case in which important delay was occasioned by additional
shipment via Genoa.
I expect from time to time in the future to make fur-
ther shipments to Naples, but, before consigning any of them via
your Company, I wish to ascertain whether or not it is within your
power to have the North German Lloyd people discharge your ship-
ments at Naples. Their method of carrying things to Genoa,
with all of the attendant additional risks and expense, seems to 
me absolutely stupid.
Will you be good enough to investigate the matter, 
and let me hear from you at your early convenience? I will
also be pleased to be reimbursed for the item of lire 12.45 above mentioned.
