My dear Mrs. Fenollosa--

I have spent the greater part of the last two days in a careful study of the fifteen kakemono received from you as follows:--

Sessai, Shigenaga, Morofusa, Hokusai, 2nd, Hokuba, Yeizen, Toyonobu, Shosen, Masanobu, Sekiyen, Hokusai, Fuji Maru, Koriusai, Morohira, Toyohiro.

A number of these kakemono I have had the pleasure of seeing before. The majority, however, were entirely new to me. I find that my collection already includes very satisfactory examples of all the painters above mentioned, excepting Shigenaga and Sekiyen. The one by the former named artist (Shigenaga) I have retained, and take pleasure in enclosing herewith draft on Boston, payable to your order for $240.00, in settlement for same. Kindly receipt the voucher enclosed herewith, and return the same to me.
