April 23rd, 1901.

Dear Mr. Potter:--

The charming plan for a Witenagemote fishing outing, as outlined in your kind letter of the 18th instant, is most attractive and unique, and I regret exceedingly that it is to begin on the day that I expect to go ashore at Naples. At that distance it will be impossible to participate actively in the pleasures of the event, but you can rest assured that Tom Jerome and I will be with you in spirit, and do our best to smile as long as the supply on Capri will permit.

Sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer
