H.F. Keith, Esq.,
Mt. Washington,
Berkshire Co., Mass.

Dear Sir:--

Your letter of April 25th is received and fully noted. I am much obliged to you for the trouble you took in examining the new roadway built under your supervision on my farm, but I am somewhat surprised to find that you make therein no allusion to the character of the retaining wall built or to the very inferior character of the gutter work; nor do you speak of the very unfinished condition in which the grading of banks must have been at the time you accepted the work. I cannot refrain from expressing my disappointment.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
