90 #33 Ferry Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, May 4th, 1901. My dear Mr. Koopman:-- I have your kind note of the 2nd instant, and am glad that you are now a member of The Players. I am sure you will enjoy the club very much, and I congratulate both you and it. What you say about your work is very interesting, but it does seem unfortunate that artistic temperaments are always of a destructive character, still, I presume that the preservation of the very best is in strict accordance with the canons of art. I have seen very little of New York this winter, and when there have been so pressed for time that I found it impossible to visit you, as I wanted to do. If all goes well, on the 18th instant I shall sail for Capri, returning home next fall. Wishing you a very pleasant and successful summer, and hoping to meet you during next fall or winter, I remain, Yours very truly, Charles L Freer Augustus Koopman, Esq., The Players, #16 Gramercy Park, New York City.
