My dear Mr. Potter:--
I have your circular letter concerning the special 
meeting of the stockholders of your bank to be held in Chicago on the 11th day of March, 1902, and as I cannot personally attend the meeting, I take much pleasure in enclosing herewith my proxy as requested.

Permit me to avail myself of the present opportunity to extend my heartiest congratulations to you upon your remarkably successful administrations of the affairs of the American Trust & Savings Bank. 

It seems a very long time since I have has the pleasure of seeing you, but the fact is my wanderings seldom take me westward. In fact, I have learned with much pleasure from time to time through our mutual friend, George Russel, and others, of the success attending your institution.

I was glad to hear from you, through Mr. Russel, a few days ago concerning the increase to be made in the capital stock of your bank, and he doubtless advised you that both Col. Hecker and myself would be very glad to avail ourselves of the opportunity to
