Dear Sir:--

I beg to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 21st instant, containing draft on Chicago to Mr. Charles L. Freer's order for $60.00 in payment of 6 months' interest due April 23rd on mortgage note of $3,000.00 at 5% per allum [[annum]], and take pleasure in enclosing herewith cancelled coupon #1 out from said note.

Mr. Freer is on his way to Europe, having left Detroit last Saturday to be absent a few months. Upon his return, I will place your letter before him.
