Dear Matsuki:--

I received in yesterday's mail the catalogue of your forthcoming sale, to be held at Washington. I notice in the illustrations No. 270, Pottery Figure, and a description thereof. Was it really dug up near Nara, and do you personally believe it to date from the period named, that is, 200 B. C.? If you yourself believe it to be a genuine specimen of this period, I wish you would have it purchased for my account. I leave the question of price entirely in your own hands. If, however, for any reason you think it not important enough to go in my collection, let the matter drop.

The Koyetsu jar and Tamba bottle have not yet been received, but I have just learned from the Express Company that they are in town and will be delivered to my house to-day. If so, will write you again to-morrow.

Yours faithfully,
Charles L Freer
