Dear Professor Fenollosa:--
Since my last letter to you, I have not been getting on physically as rapidly as I had hoped to, and this morning I found myself feeling so confused when I arose, I decided to ask you to postpone your visit to which I have been looking forward with so much pleasure. Consequently I telegraphed you a few moments ago, as follows:--
"Regret do not feel well enough to join you in work next week. Can you conveniently postpone visit?"
The complaint from which I have been suffering troubles me so much, I fear that, unless a very quick change occurs, I will find it quite impossible to take active part in the work we had hoped to have undertaken next week. So, it seemed to me much wiser to telegraph you as I did.
Perhaps, after you have finished your engagements at Toledo and Grand Rapids, or between those dates, or sometime early thereafter, we can take up the work we have talked so much about.
Won't you kindly think it over and let me know.
