I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter. If W Donaphan pays the Freedmen what he honestly owes them, release his cotton, or if he makes an honest contract doing them justice, their justice, all right. If he will not pay or make contract hold the cotton. Make him do justice to the Freedmen. There is a lot of tools claimed by Henderson Botter, and Henderson Thomas please have them sent here. the chest is marked as the Freedman says as J.H. [[P?]] and on a card under marked C.L.B. you will find them at Central Depot. I desire them sent here to determine who owns them.
I am. Col.
