Madam:
I am directed by General Reynolds to state that the proper papers were forwarded to Gen. Howard on the 10th of December, 1888 to have a deed executed to you for the property purchased by you of the Bureau. It is thought that the papers have not reached their destination as the mails which left this place at that time were lost in a creek near Bastrop.

In case you have not received a proper deed of the property from Gen. O.O. Howard, I would request that you furnish this office, at your earliest convenience, with a copy of the deed executed to the "C.S.A." that it may be forwarded to Gen. Howard and you receive a proper deed.

Very respectfully,
your obdt. servant.
