Know all men by these presents that we A. Ruttkay & Co. and Wm Butler Duncan, and Wm Watts Sherman, and Joseph Yeoman, and D.C.  Birdall
of the city  and county of New York, State of New York, are firmly bound and held unto the Assistant Commissioner of Freedman for the State of Texas, in the penal sum of "One Hundred Thousand Dollars," to be paid to the said Assistant Commissioner in amounts set opposite to our respective signatures, for which payment will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves by these presents: Sealed with our Seals the second day of September, One Thousand eight hundred and sixty seven.

Whereas the above bounden A. Ruttkay & Co have been duly designated by the Assistant Commissioner of Freedmen for the State of Texas to receive and sell the crops of Freedmen of Said State; Now therefore the condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said A. Ruttkay & Co shall well and faithfully perform the duties of Consigner, without fraud or deceit during their continuance in said designated capacity, then the above obligation to be void; else to remain in full force. This Bond to remain in force for one year from date.
