Sir

I have the honor to transfer a case to you that can be easiler reached from your office than from mine the circumstances are as follows, a Planter that lived in this county by the name of Oliver had eight (8) Freedmen hired to work for him after they had labored for some length of time he sold his Plantation and when [[went]] to some of the southern states leaving his wife here the freedmen reported that they had received nothing for their labor I ordered Mrs Oliver before me for to settle the case she say that her husband had had sold the plantation to a man in Galveston Named Col Man and that her husband had transfered the contract with all the plantation and everything pertaining to it [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] he promissed to pay the freedmen it is necessary that the case be attended to at once for Mrs Oliver soon expects to leave here and follow he [[her]] Husband
