not do so, and I had to build pends in the field. Mr Harpers son in law Mr Chandler put his oxen in the field and this told others in, but the outside cattle had already broke in twice before so when they got started to it I could not keep them out, and while in they eat cotton on the stalk and also from the pends - and by this means I lost a right smart perhaps 6 Bales.

This account from Messrs Wyth & [[?]] for 123 04 is what they gave me as my account on the order of Mr Harper, after [[strikethrough]] when [[/strikethrough]] Mr H. and I [[strikethrough]] went to [[/strikethrough]] had settled I gave him this paper. He said i was a fool, that he reconed he knew what it was, and threw the paper down on the ground. I picked it up, and kept it. As to the corn crop, I took and used 27 Rows leaving every alternate row for Mr Harper. In gathering the corn, Mr Harper would not take these 27 rows They all were the worst corn in the field. He got in all 5 Loads of good corn I got 1 Load of good and 1 load of bad corn, including my 27 rows above mentioned. I brough a Six Shooter from Mr Harper at 17.00 and a gun at 35.00 and was to pay for them in corn, at a dollar a bushel, but as I could not do it he charged me 40 for the gun. I have traded off both the gun and the pistol. I think the settlement included this balance of 22 dollars, rating the corn 3½ loads less 2 loads at 20 bushels to the load = to 30$.
