If I have unecessarily alluded to the efforts being made to have me suspended, you will be good enough to overlook it, as the mental strain on me has been steady and severe I feel it incumbent on me to state that I have been privately informed that a petition has gone up to Washington against me - the basis of it I have not been able to learn I take it for granted I will not be condemned without a hearing. - a breath of mime [[mine]] will blast it if I get an opportunity Whenever challenged I will respond In the mean time you may rest assured the interests of the Freedmen will be sacredly guarded, and that there will be, as heretofore, few or no appeals

I have the honor to be, Adj't
