Seguin, May 27, 1866

Adjutant,

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your communication, dated Galveston 22nd covering charges preferred against me.

In answer I have to state simply that they are false both to the letter and spirit.

I merely write this in answer of the receipt of the enclosures.

Where is the man, from Abraham Lincoln, down to myself that has not been Slandered, Witness the effort against Genl Gregory.

I respectfully ask the Genl not to look for my fuller answer for a mail or two. When his wishes will be fully gratified,

I have the honor to be Adj't
