Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands
Seguin, Guadaloupe County, Texas
June 25th, 1866

Report of causes liquidated and settled since last report of 30th April 1866

May 22nd 1866

Hon. W. Longworth
Seguin, Texas.

My Dr Sir:_
I went to see Wicks and he has had his horse to get away with Saddle bridle and stake rope on, and in consequence he has requested me to make our answer The Chief of the Bureau has done precisely what I thought and said We both did pronounce on them, and fixed our names at the Springs and in your presents (presence?), and we are not the men to take back or equivocate The basis of your settlement was put in writing We were called on as your friends and Dial's to settle it In our opinion as the best thing we could do, under circumstances, was done I only regret that it does not give satisfaction I have paid your draft to Mr Haile who Peter had endorsed it over to

Were I in your place I would remit the fine against Dial & correct my report, and thus crush out your censorious enemies & give your friends a Triumph to say neither of you complaining Gentlemen can do the duties of this office more honest, promp, nor half as satisfactory as Judge Longworth Wicks will call on (you?) shortly & explain personally any thing this hasty note may want

I am Dear Sir
Very Respectfully
(Signed) J. W. Frazer
P.S. If you should not remit the fine, we
