of the above, Dick was turned over to the Dist Court to await his trial. Believing him guilty I had no hesitation in allowing the civil authorities to take their own course in this case.
Mr Darwin is a man well disposed towards the freed people, and I believe would not have troubled Dick if he had been let alone Being away from my Office I have not sufficient data to make a report of the case, except from memory and my convictions at the time the trouble occurred
