difficulty about arranging a satisfactory price for them. I should like also to see the coloured pastel portrait of Mr. Whistler and his brother William -- I mean the one taken in Russia in 1847. Do you care to dispose of this? While in London, I had the pleasure of seeing a very remarkable daguerreotype of Mr. Whistler as a boy, taken while he was in Russia. It is owned by a lady whose home is in Philadelphia, but who is now practising art in London. The daguerreotype is very charming, and the possessor is sure to take excellent care of it. Perhaps, sometime in the future, it will be exhibited in America.

Yours very truly,
