Dear Sir:--
Replying to your letter of June 24th, I beg to say that the prospectuses issued by the Grolier Club,concerning the proposed publication of reproductions of Mr. Whistler's etchings, have been duly received.

Your surprise is fully equalled by my own, and your statement of Mr. Whistler's expressed wishes regarding the reproductions of his etchings and dry-points is absolutely correct. You will remember, also, that Miss. Birnie-Philip, the executrix of Mr. Whistler's will, in giving her final consent to the publication of the proposed catalogue of Mr. Whistler's etchings, to be issued by your Club, made it a condition that no reproductions of the etchings or dry-points should appear in the catalogue. I feel confident that Miss. Birnie-Philip has not changed her views on this subject. I had the pleasure of seeing her quite recently in London, and during my visit, no mention was made of the pro-
