Mr dear Mr. Eddy:--
Permit me, in behalf of Miss. Birnie-Philip and Mrs. Whibley, to ask for your kind consideration of another copyright question.
The Grolier Club of New York proposes to issue a publication of photographic reproductions of all the etchings and dry-points done by Mr. Whistler, and the ladies of Mr. Whistler's family are anxious to know whether or not it is within their power to compel the Grolier Club to abandon their scheme. Mr. Whistler himself while living denied this privilege to the Caxton Club, who wished to illustrate a complete descriptive catalogue of Mr. Whistler's etched work and, naturally, Miss. Birnie-Philip feels it her duty to interfere with the Grolier's intentions, provided, she has the proper legal standing.
I hope that this is not asking too much of yourself and Mr. Dyrenforth.
Thanking you both in advance, I remain,
Yours very sincerely,
Charles L. Freer
P. S. I enclose herewith two circulars issued by the Grolier Club, which kindly return to me after perusal.
