My dear Mr. Eddy:--
Your own thoughts and mine seem to have been focused yesterday upon the interests of the late Mr. Whistler, for I had the pleasure of receiving yesterday morning a very interesting letter from Mr. Dyrenforth, in which he gives his final opinion concerning the copyright of "The Gentle Art of making Enemies", and in which he also answers certain queries raised by Mr. Webb, who, you will remember, is Miss. Birnie-Philip's English counselor.
Mr. Dyrenforth's report is most exhaustive and intelligent. It covers the ground completely, and will enable the ladies of Mr. Whistler's family to know their rights in the matter.
Mr. Dyrenforth has been most kind in this matter, and the work he has done has far exceeded my expectations. You will remember having written me sometime ago that Mr. Dyrenfoth would make no charge for his services, which, at the time of the receipt of your letter, I accepted in behalf of Miss.
