originally are of varying colours, and were gathered from the different quarries in Ulster County adjacent to the Ulster & Delaware Railroad. You will also recall that some of the most successful pieces came from the opening ledges found near the surface of the ground, some having an iron rust colour and other elements of beauty. The window caps, sills and other pieces which are to be hand or machine dressed, I fancy, will have to be pretty much of the standard blue stone colour, because I am told that the stone gotten near the surface of the quarries will not stand tool dressing.
