My dear Montross:--

Your note of the 26th instant is received, and the two pictures are both safely here. The Thayer seems none the worse for its little vacation, and the new Tryon looks very beautiful in its new home.

I shall sail from New York on the "Oceanic" on Wednesday next, May 4th. I shall be in New York Tuesday afternoon, May 3rd, and if I can find the time, I shall run in to see you for a moment.
