the Atlantic. I sail on Wednesday next, May 4th, on the S. S. "Oceanic", and shall visit London, Glasgow and Paris, for the purpose of attending to certain affairs there which cannot be done by correspondence. The trip will be a characteristic American one, taking flying leaps from city to city, and back to Detroit again by June 15th. Sorry I cannot include Capri on my trip, but in the absence of Col. Hecker, I cannot be away from Detroit very long until after Henry gets broken in to the management of his father's business affairs.

I am very much rushed to-day, so this letter must be brought to an early close. Will write you again on board steamer.

My address in London will be Care, Brown, Shipley & Co., #123 Pall Mall, S. W..

With all good wishes, I remain,

Affectionately yours,
Charles L Freer

Thomas S. Jerome, Esq.,
