67 #33 Ferry Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, April 30th, 1904. My dear Dewing:- All of the pastels have reached Detroit, excepting the one from my brother's wife, which will probably come to-morrow, and the two from Bixby (one of yours and the other by Tryon), which will be added to our group at St. Louis. The total number shown is thirty-six -- fifteen by Tryon, thirteen by Whistler and eight by yourself. I wish there were more of yours in the group. I have arranged them in accordance with the talk had with Tryon and yourself, and I have no doubt that they will be hung in the order of my arrangement. The entire group is most beautiful and extremely harmonious. I am only sorry that you are not here to see the lot together, and to favor me with your advice in the arrangement of the hanging. However, I think you will be pleased if you visit the exhibition. Each picture is marked with a number or initial. Titles, with full instructions for hanging, go to Mr. Ives to-day. In naming your pictures, I followed your instructions, calling each of the nudes "Study-Nude", and the three draped figures are named, "Study-Pink Drapery", "Study-Yellow Drapery", "Study-Blue Drapery". The portrait of Anna is called simply "Portrait".
