Mr. Peter J. Bahr,
The Mansfield,
12 West 44th St.,
New York City.

Dear Mr. Bahr:-

The twenty-nine Chinese paintings, which you so kindly sent to my apartment, have been gone through thoroughly, part yesterday, the balance today, and while the entire group seems to me to be interesting, particularly for descriptive purposes, not a single specimen appeals to me as suitable for my collection. I am very sorry as I had hoped that at least a few of them would be up to the standard that I have established for my collection. Can you let your man come to my apartment and get the paintings, let us say tomorrow, Wednesday, at about 12 o'clock mid-day?

The Bronze Tripod is interesting, but also considerably below the standard in quality which I purchase for my collection. Let me thank you sincerely for your permission to inspect so fully, at my leisure, the things above referenced to. Believe me,

Sincerely yours,
