Complaint has been made at this office by Abram. Sorrell (Colored) that he Sold to William Ellis (wh) (2) two bales of Cotton about the 25th of December 1866. Cotton was Selling at the time for 25 cts per pound and the amount due on the Cotton was to have been paid by Ellis early in the Spring of 1867. but Ellis failing to pay Sorrell sued him for the amount. and obtained judgment against him for only $5.00

As you were Sorrells Attorney in this case please give me the facts. and inform me upon what the action of the Court was based
