General
I have the honor to state that the following complaint has been made at this office.

David Rucker (Colored) complains that George. Nolan. Dr McIntire and Elisha Reagan, all white men, and living in
the town of Pocahontas. Hardiman County Tennessee. came to his house in Pocahontas. between midnight and
day of the of the 7th inst. and took himself and wife out of their beds and whipped them very severely with sticks and switches lacerating their backs badly

Rucker states that this assault was made upon them because he played "Yankee Doodle" on the fife for the Colored people of Pocahontas in their procession Celebrating the 4th of July at that place

Very respectfully
