Wednesday June 26, 1878. Painted all forenoon. The weather has been delightful so far. I wish it would not be warmer.

Thursday 27. Painted all forenoon. The hottest day we have had so far. Thunder showers in the afternoon Sara went to N.Y. this morning to meet Mr. Kellerman. John OReillys home burned on Tuesday night. Mr. Kellerman came this evening.

Saturday 29. Worked Friday and this forenoon at the house. Finished the outside today. Have only a few pairs of blinds to do and the floors of the porches when it will be finished. The weather has become very warm the past three days. Received our application yesterday for a picture for an exhibition at St. Louis. Answered the note. Received a note from Rene Dunfee and today our application for a picture from the Mechanics Fair at Boston.

Sunday 30. Note to Miss Dunfee, to Eastman Johnson and to a Mr. Ackerman a farmer who advertises for boarders at Saddle River N.J. asking him to tell me what sort of a country it is, his price for board and intimating that I may want to come there for a little while in the fall. The day has been extremely hot. Made a little sketch out of our window looking across the river which view has appeared almost the same in effect for several afternoons.

Wednesday July 3, 1878. Finished the work on the house yesterday except painting the porches which I did this forenoon. Gertrude and I took a ride Monday evening. Mr Reanult became insane and on Monday in N.Y. was put in Bloomingdale Asylum. Mr. Kellerman left this morning. Recd a letter from St. Louis
