As you will no doubt recall, you were kind enough, while I was at your house, to offer to send me information as to the best localities for investigation, and it occurs to me that letters of introduction---or possibly, to save you trouble, a circular letter---from a man so well known in the Orient as yourself, would be of very great value. You, however, are a far better judge of this than I.
