Reuben Taylor f.m.c. being duly sworn according to law doth depose & state as follows. On the evening of Thursday Decr. 12th I was standing at the sign post near Sigh Howell listening to my father (Harry Taylor) talking to Mr Sherrill & waiting for father to go home - whilst they were talking young James Tooke came out & ordered father home some words passed between them when Jim Moore came up some words passed between him Isam & father & he took father by the arm & started to make off with him father swung loose from him & came back to Mr Sherrill & finished talking with him & then joined me & we went home together, after father swung loose from Moore, Moore started off & I did not see him until later in the evening - Father neither struck him or attempted to - I was looking at them all the time
