from removing any of the proceeds of said crop from the premises until the crop should all be gathered, and final settlement made with myself, which he officially gave me.

On the 3rd Dec 1867. I went to said John H. Morrison and he gave me a paper, of which the following is a correct and true copy. "Office Sub asst com Bureau R.F and A.L. Palestine Dec 3rd 1867. The freedmen croping with Mr. Harris will turn over the crop to him

He assuring me at the time he gave me this, that I never need fear any interruption from the Bureau, he being satisfied that there was not half enough to pay me what they justly owed me. I accordingly took charge of the crop. On Dec. 6th/67. I rec'd an order of which the following is a correct and true copy. 
"Office Sub. Asst. Com. Bureau R F. A L. Palestine Texas Dec 6th 1867. J.J. Harris Esq.
You will report at this office on  Wednesday the 11th Dec. 1867. to answer the complaint of the Freedman Alfred Harris for settlement of crop. You will not [[strikethrough]] fail [[/strikethrough]] interferior with the crop until the settlement is made. If you should fail to appear a Judgement will be rendered against you.
