and request that you give this matter your attention. And your petitioner would further represent that the aforesaid John H. Morrison has been dealing unjustly in matters that come before him, and that he does not regard him qualified to deal out justice and right between parties; - and for the reason that, he now holds two offices, viz Agent-Freedmens Bureau, and County Treasurer, by appointment, of Anderson Co. And that he is now a candidate for the convention to he holden at Austin, and that, as an independent candidate over the regular nominee of a mass meeting held for that purpose.

And your petitioner has reason to believer, and does believe, that the said John H Morrison issues his orders and decrees, that he may secure the influence of the Freedmen, and thereby be elected to the aforesaid State Convention.

Your petitioner would ask therefore that you would grant relief to him, and the other citizens of Anderson Co. and appoint some one as Commander of this district - who may and will deal out justice according to your order No. 18. and the laws of the land all of which is most respectfully submitted.
