There were some extensive Govt. buildings and other works in Anderson Co. at the close of the war but there is but little property left there now. It was all taken possession of by the Treasury Dept. at the close of the war and disposed of by agents of the same soon after.

At Mound Prarie a factory of 300 spindles was set up it having been run from Arkansas. The building was erected by the Confederate Govt. and the capacity of the factory increased so that at the close of the war it was running 3000 spindles. This was seized by the "Treasury agent but afterwards released and taken back (the machinery) to Arkansas. The factory n.e. the building is on land bought by the Confederate Govt. The tract contains 160 acres and was bought by the Govt. from a Mr. Rollins. It is now claimed by his widow he being dead. She also claims the factory as hers.
