Acknowledge receipt of letter of 12th inst: has no personal knowledge of the acts of violence committed during July as he was confined to the limits of the public square, by the presence of desperados, it was rumored that one white man and five negroes were killed in Red River and Titus Counties in July. Asks to be assigned to a new station as he will be assassinated if he returns to Clarksville. Recd B.R.F. M.D. September 10 1868.
