Case of murder of Jim Green murdered. 25th Dec 1867.

Mary Jane Green being duly sworn deposes an says "I live about five miles from Mt. Pleasant, My [[strikethrough]] that her [[/strikethrough]] husband Jim Green left home about one hour and one half after sunrise on the 25th inst. 1867. and was going to work on a house that he was building about a mile from Mt. Pleasant. he was killed in about a mile from the house he was [[strikethrough]] building [[/strikethrough]] living in, that he left in the morning. On learning of his death on about three hours high, I started with his two little children, and run as hard as I could, to the place where he was lying on his right side on the left hand side of the road, coming towards Mt. Pleasant. I found his clasp knife lying in the road, the blade was shut; the blade of the knife was about four inches long, when my husband left home, he took a revolver pistol, one of the tubes of the pistol was broken, the scabbard and belt of the pistol I found on the body but the pistol was gone. one of his pockets was turned inside out & his mule was standing about fifth yards from him grazing, with his saddle on just as he left home. I did'nt see any blood on any part of the mule, or his equipements. -
