and saw May the saloon keeper bounced from between the buildings mentioned, upon the platforms he did not pause & appeared excited. He passed me I did not look in the direction Niaz went looked but looked from when he came, which I was looking. I heard a pistol fire. It did not exceed a minute from the time English went behind the building before I saw May bound upon the platform immediately I heard a [[strikethrough]] pistol fire [[/strikethrough]] the report of a pistol shot. I could not determine whether it was in the house or on the back of the house. I then looked up street and saw May turn the corner that leads to the church, May was going east. I thought for my own safety, & walked off [[?]] not knowing the circumstances and what might occur. I walked from where I was standing about eight or 10 steps & turned my head and looked over my right shoulder in the direction from from where the sound of the shot came to the rear of May's Saloon. I saw the man who proved to be English standing & shouting downwards toward the ground. His hat was off his hair blowing over his head. He fired twice the shots were very close together. I could only see his hand and head by reason of a plank fence & [[rail?]] post his face was about a N.E. direction. I could not see the object he was shooting by reason of the fence. I left that position & walked about 40 or 50 steps and stopped in front of an old brick house situated north from where the murder was committed - two gentlemen came out of the brick house just as I stopped, they asked what was the matter down there, indicating the place from where the shots sounded. I told them a man was shooting there
