several citizens preferred to follow English Judg with for one I told them I would go if they would furnish me with a horse, after consultation among the citizens they concluded that English had by that time escaped to the woods and it was useless to follow this is all I know about it.

Question by Col Starr, you were presant (answer) I was. Question Did you see English then (at Dangerfield before. Answer. I did. He was there April 1867 for the first time. Question. has he been there often Answer. he has. Question. has he ever slept at Dangerfield with you. Answer He has never slept with me or at my house.  I do not sleep at my grocery. He is a Spair made man about 5 feet 6 inches high tough looking hair cool black inclined to coal black eyes black beard all around his face, Mustaches dark yet small.  Changes his look, never looks steady at
