say that the prisoner is the same man, I once saw in Houston. but believe him to be the same - Never saw him at Mrs Curries after friday night - Do not know where he has boarded since - Never heard any conversation between Mrs Currie and the prisoner.

Testimony of R A Key.

I have seen the prisoner a time or two - once at Wm Smiths store about last tuesday or Wednesday - Never saw him before  Was conversing with some Gentlemen at Smiths store - I take him to be a stranger in Columbus.  He came to my house on friday evening about 8 oclock and called for supper. - He was accompanied by a man named Key. who took supper with him - the prisoner pledged, his watch for his bill - which was redeemed this morning by Lieut Stevenson - They left my house immediately after obtaining their supper.  Key was dressed in linen with a wide brim Mexican hat. - Did not inform me of their business - Key informed me that his occupation was peddling

Cross Ex - The [[strikethrough]] y [[/strikethrough]] prisoner asked me to let him stay with me - I did not tell him he could not stay but I advised him to go to another Hotel - He was at my house about 1/2 hour -  Reexamination -
