Dear Mr. Chapman:-

It was a pleasure to receive your recent letter written after your delightful holiday. Wales must be fascinating, not only in its natural scenery, but also in its traditions.

What an amusing experience Gordon had with the hearse! And what a field such an experience opens to an imaginative mind.

I am sorry to say that since my return home I have not had the pleasure of seeing Sydney Russel. But I have met both his father and mother, and they tell me that the young man is devoting nearly all of his time most energetically to the interests of the Great Lakes Ship-building Company. He is, evidently, following the illustrious foot-steps of both his grandfather and father.

Thank you for having sent me word of the visit of Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair Baddeley. I hope that I may have the pleasure of meeting them before they return to England.

The re-building of my house is keeping me tied very closely to Detroit. But I hope the work will be far enough along within a couple of weeks to make it possible for me to go to New York and Boston for a little outing. While
